Busy vs. Productive

Matthew 6:33 "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."

We can pursue a lot of different things in life but the achievement of a thing to the detriment of one's soul enslaves the soul for the sake of the thing. God would not have us slaves but rather sons and daughters. From our relationship with God flows the manifestation of God in us and our sphere of influence which would include those things that are necessary for our God given mission.

We follow God and the things follow us because the Lord promises in Jeremiah 1:12 ".... I am watching over my word to perform it." God does the work. When the disciples asked what should we do to do the works of God Jesus responded: John 6:29 AMP “This is the work of God: that you believe [adhere to, trust in, rely on, and have faith] in the One whom He has sent.”

It is wise to understand the difference of being busy verses being productive as illustrated in the following story:

Luke 10: 38-42 "As Jesus and the disciples......came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing.......the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.

To avoid wasting time and energy on the wrong things one needs the means to stay on track, direction is a means to staying on track, and the only faithful [never abandon you or let you down] direction comes from God comes as revealed in his Word (Jesus).
